These are more decorative scrunchies and less functional ones, so always style your hair with an elastic band first and then pop the scrunchie over. The scrunched effect is beautiful but if you prefer the smooth\/ironed look, you can always use a bit of steam (from a hot iron or steamer) to bring it back to the original shape. These scrunchies are closed with glue, so you can open them, cut the elastic, iron them out and replace with a new elastic (thread the elastic using a safety pin).
